BH FUNCTIONAL LAND RIG — RECORDING CREDITS
Brian Hennen Oilfield Mods | version 0.11.0.0

The five active sounds below derive from recordings of real machinery.
No AI-generated or synthesized drilling or hoist sound is substituted.
They are not recordings of this exact modeled rig or a matched equipment set.
Source pages identify each recording as CC0 1.0 Universal. Sources were
checked on October 20, 2026 (the retained engine/horn files were also checked
when first prepared). CC0: https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/
No creator, Freesound or equipment manufacturer endorses this mod.

DRILLING — NEW WORKING DRILL-RIG RECORDING

Runtime file: BH_DrillingRig_Loop.ogg
Original: Fracking.ND.DrillRig.Whine.mp3 — fkunze
https://freesound.org/people/fkunze/sounds/407454/
The recorder identifies the sound as an operating drill rig near Tioga,
North Dakota. That identifies an actual drilling-rig recording; the exact
motor type is the recorder's interpretation, not a verified machine model.
Public HQ preview:
https://cdn.freesound.org/previews/407/407454_3793224-hq.mp3
Edit: a 15-second running excerpt beginning at 0.5 seconds; mono 44.1 kHz;
32 Hz high-pass; DC removal; 1-second wrap crossfade; peak target -6 dBFS;
Vorbis quality 5. Result: a 14-second loop. Natural recorded pitch retained.
For v0.11 the OGG was rebuilt with +3 dB recording gain (decoded peak
-3.0 dBFS) and the rig playback gain was increased from 0.68 to 0.98.
These changes deliberately make the real recording louder without hard
clipping it. Environmental falloff was widened for outside listening.
This replaces the earlier general oil-pump ambience for active drilling.

HOIST — NEW RECORDED CRANE MOTOR

Runtime file: BH_HoistMotor_Loop.ogg
Original: 22 Ton Bridge Crane (up down horn and move) — AstraPLanetshine
https://freesound.org/people/AstraPLanetshine/sounds/832356/
Public HQ preview:
https://cdn.freesound.org/previews/832/832356_15626346-hq.mp3
Edit: motor-motion excerpt at 14.8–18.8 seconds, before the separate horn
blasts later in the recording; mono 44.1 kHz; 32 Hz high-pass; DC removal;
0.5-second wrap crossfade; peak target -7 dBFS; Vorbis quality 5.
Result: a 3.5-second loop. This is a real crane motor used to represent the
rig's hoist. It is not claimed to be a recording of oilfield drawworks.

MUD PUMP — RECORDED INDUSTRIAL PUMP

Runtime file: BH_IndustrialPump_Loop.ogg
Original: motor large industrial pump.flac — kyles
https://freesound.org/people/kyles/sounds/453480/
Retained without byte changes from Brian's previous BH Drilling Rig asset.
Earlier edit: steady running excerpt, mono 44.1 kHz, DC removal, 28 Hz
high-pass, 1-second wrap crossfade, normalized with headroom, Vorbis q5.
This is an industrial pump recording, not a specifically identified
triplex drilling-mud pump recording. It now follows mud-pump operation.

GENERATOR — RECORDED DIESEL GENERATOR

Runtime file: BH_DieselGenerator_Loop.ogg
Original: Generator StartUp, Run, Shutdown.wav — JeffWojo
https://freesound.org/people/JeffWojo/sounds/169940/
The original description identifies a 400 kW diesel generator.
Retained without byte changes from Brian's previous BH Drilling Rig asset.
Earlier edit: steady running excerpt, mono 44.1 kHz, DC removal, 28 Hz
high-pass, 1-second wrap crossfade, normalized with headroom, Vorbis q5.

ALARM — RECORDED OIL-RIG AIR HORN

Runtime file: BH_RigAlarm_Horn.ogg
Original: Industrial Air Horn — mcpable
https://freesound.org/people/mcpable/sounds/131930/
The creator identifies an air horn on an oil rig in Alberta.
Public HQ preview used in the earlier BH edit:
https://cdn.freesound.org/previews/131/131930_1542102-hq.mp3
Retained without byte changes. Earlier edit: mono 44.1 kHz; 30 Hz
high-pass; 0.28-second quiet lead-in removed; short edge fades; peak target
-4 dBFS; a quiet gap for a 3.5-second alarm loop; Vorbis quality 5.
The recorded blast, pitch and release are retained.

SOURCE REPRODUCIBILITY

The editable source bundle contains the two new public preview recordings,
their source URLs, download hashes and build/process_audio.py.
Those previews are the actual input files; no Freesound login or original
WAV download is claimed. The three retained sounds keep their earlier edit
history above; the previous source recordings are not duplicated here.
All levels/ranges in landRig.xml are adjustable gameplay presentation values,
not measurements of real-world sound pressure or guaranteed hearing range.

Version 0.11 also increases spatial playback of generator, pump, hoist and
horn, without substituting synthesized audio or changing their source files.
